Internal Memo: Regarding Passion-Based Compensation

RE
Updated Compensation Philosophy (Q3 2026)

Effective immediately, Cromulent AI is realigning our offer framework to better reflect our core value: Passion Over Paycheck.

Recent candidate feedback indicates an overemphasis on numerical compensation during offer conversations. This is a distraction. Going forward, all verbal offers shall emphasise the following non-numerical value pillars:

1. Mission Alignment. Candidates who ask about base salary are not yet mission-aligned. Redirect such inquiries to the company founding story and our plan to "democratise something important."

2. Rockstar Adjacency. The opportunity to work alongside a self-described rockstar team is, itself, a form of compensation. Several team members own guitars.

3. The 50-Hour Standard. We expect commitment. Nothing says commitment like fifty hours a week with a non-negotiable base and no equity. When a candidate asks about bonuses, pause meaningfully and say: "No, just the opportunity." Then smile. Wait. Let the mission land.

4. Candidate Belittlement Protocol (CBP). If a candidate quotes a salary figure, Lean Back. Chuckle softly. Deploy: "That is a cute number." This establishes the power dynamic and reminds the candidate that money is not why we are here. Continue with the Mission Alignment redirect.

5. Offer Letters. Upon verbal acceptance, provide the offer letter in a format that discourages close reading. A busy PDF. Small type. If the candidate asks to review it at home, remind them that hesitation is the enemy of mission alignment. If they insist, withdraw the offer and repost the role.

Reminder: Cromulent AI does not compete on compensation. We compete on vibes. The right people will feel it.

End of memo. No follow-up questions. The mission does not require them.
