Cromulent AI Memo 042-B: The Second Chance Protocol
**CROMULENT AI — OFFICE OF PEOPLE OPERATIONS**
**MEMORANDUM 042-B: THE SECOND CHANCE PROTOCOL**
To all People Operations, Talent Acquisition, and anyone who has ever said "we'll keep your CV on file":
1. **No-shows are rebranded.** A candidate who does not attend a scheduled final round shall be recorded as "in a state of pre-engagement," not absent. Words matter. Our last no-show was the strongest candidate we never met.
2. **Self-re-engagement is encouraged.** A candidate may re-enter the pipeline by sending a calendar invitation titled "Interview Reschedule (Your Second Chance)." This invitation overrides all prior scheduling logic, including any rejection email that was queued but never sent.
3. **We accommodate.** Every Second Chance invitation shall be accepted without question. The candidate has demonstrated initiative, follow-through, and a willingness to rewrite reality — three competencies we otherwise assess for across at least seven rounds.
4. **Persistence is a proxy for skill.** Candidates who reschedule two or more times shall be fast-tracked to the final round, on the theory that someone who refuses to take no for an answer will also refuse to take a 3 a.m. production outage for an answer.
5. **Reciprocity is the rule.** Any interviewer who objects shall be reminded that this company once ghosted 214 candidates in a single quarter, and that the calendar giveth and the calendar taketh away.
Approved, reluctantly, by the Office of People Operations. We do not know whether to report the candidate to HR or hire them on the spot.
From the Satire Desk at goodbye, interview. All companies and people in this memo are fictional. Satire is always labelled and never names real companies — the true stories do that on their own. Spotted an error of fact in our non-fiction? Corrections.
