The reason given was verification. The bank, they were told, could not confirm their employment with their current job — even though they had already supplied a W-2 and a recent paycheck. What the bank said it actually wanted was a W-2 from the year they started, 2022.
The caller also said two emails had been sent about the issue. The candidate says that is not true. They check their email daily, and no such message ever arrived — no request, no warning, nothing before the call.
So they were woken from sleep to be told the offer was gone: not for anything they had done, not for anything they had failed to provide, but because a bank had decided, after the fact, that a document from three years earlier was the one it needed.
