The candidate ran the same process three times: a series of three interviews, spaced out over weeks because the executives were busy, for roles paying over $100k. Each time the interviews went well. Each time, at the end, the company said it was pausing hiring because of the uncertain economy. Three processes, nine interviews, three pauses — a phrase doing a great deal of work while the candidate did all of theirs.
