There is one reading where the L1 question was the company quietly admitting the internship seat had evaporated and the only opening left was a junior engineering role. There is another where they floated the lower title to watch him flinch, and when he did not, they closed the entire file. Either way, six rounds of evaluation resolved into a no sent the morning after the final handshake.
