Intro callTake-home assignmentTechnical roundHR round -- rejected for demeanour

A software engineer cleared every stage of a startup's hiring process -- introductory call, take-home assignment, technical round, HR round -- with universally positive feedback. The recruiter attended each session and was enthusiastic. Then the rejection came: the candidate had been "too relaxed" during the interviews and was therefore not a fit for "startup culture." The recruiter reportedly apologised privately, admitting they were also confused by the decision. The candidate wrote that they had worked at startups their entire career and "literally started laughing on the call." Reddit's consensus: dodged a bullet -- the company wanted someone they could intimidate.
