Laid Off in January, Rehired Abroad by August

The team was cut in January. By summer the company was hiring again - for the same roles, doing the same work, now posted out of Costa Rica. The job never disappeared; it relocated somewhere cheaper, which is the part the word "layoff" is designed to leave out. The people who used to do it found the opening the ordinary way: on a job board, reported by someone who recognised it.
