The candidate was on Indeed for roughly five minutes. An application went out, a call came back almost immediately, and a 20-minute phone interview was enough. They were hired — and started fewer than five days after first clicking apply.
No take-home, no six-round loop, no "let's have you meet the team and the team's sub-teams." Somebody needed someone, read enough in a resume and a short conversation, and made the call. It is a reminder that the entire apparatus of modern hiring is optional.
