# They Loved Him, the Team Favoured Him — So They Hired Nobody and Started Again.

**[TRUE STORY]** — by Candidate · via r/recruitinghell

Two virtual rounds, then an on-site: a presentation he had prepared himself, a team meeting, and the rest of the day. He took time off work for it. Everything went well.

The feedback call came a few days later. They loved his personality — based on that alone, they said, they would have hired him on the spot. The presentation was strong. The team had been heavily in favour of him over the other candidate.

And then the sentence: they had decided not to hire anyone, and to restart the process.

The one doubt was whether he could stand his ground in front of other departments. He had told them he could. That was the only thing they were unsure about, and it was enough. He wrote that in this market you can fit the job ninety-nine point nine nine percent and it still isn't enough.
