# The Recruiter Was Ghosted, Too

**[TRUE STORY]** — by Candidate · via X

The candidate finished the interviews and waited. Two days later, the recruiter — the person whose job it is to know — sent a DM asking whether the candidate had heard anything back from the company. The candidate hadn't. Neither had she.

For the next few days she kept checking in, asking the same question, getting the same non-answer. Then, one morning, the rejection email finally arrived. Not from the recruiter. From the company.

There is a version of this story where the recruiter is the villain. This is not that version. This is the version where the decision loop is so closed that it locks everyone out — the candidate and the professional hired to represent them, both refreshing inboxes neither of them controls. The company did not just ghost the candidate. It ghosted its own recruiter.

That is the tell. When the person on the inside cannot get an answer, the 'we'll be in touch' was never going to arrive from anyone else.
