The interview was going fine until the cat pushed the door open. It leapt onto the desk, knocked over the water, stepped in the puddle, and walked across the keyboard while the candidate kept talking. Chaos, on camera, mid-answer.

She got the job.

There is a version of hiring where that is a dealbreaker and a version where it is a story. The company that can laugh at the cat, re-pour the water, and say yes anyway is the company that understands what a candidate actually is: a person whose life occasionally happens during work hours.
