# Six Hundred Applications. Then a FAANG Offer.

**[WIN]** — by Candidate · via r/cscareerquestions

Four years of experience, a bachelor’s and a master’s, and a steady job at a mid-sized company — until a layoff in May.

What followed was five months of applying to jobs within twenty-four hours of their being posted. More than six hundred applications in all. Countless recruiter screens, hiring-manager conversations, and technical rounds. Countless ghostings, by his account, from unprofessional recruiters, and clueless, disorganized interviews at smaller companies.

Then, at the end of it, an offer from a FAANG company.

He was simply glad, he wrote, to be out of the trenches. And his one piece of advice: never be loyal to a company, however rosy its spreadsheets look. Keep looking while you are employed.
