# Over 500 Applications, a Gap, and Finally an Offer

**[WIN]** — by Candidate · via r/recruitinghell

Six months of intensive searching, over five hundred applications, and a gap of a few years that made it harder. In some interviews, they said, they had been ridiculed for the gap — something that had been out of their control. They persevered anyway, and were offered at least thirty interviews, with two more lined up before this offer finally arrived.

Their method, as they described it: revise the résumé once, then stop editing it for every posting; be open to other sectors and titles; don’t over-use AI; stay off LinkedIn; and do not take each rejection personally. The closing line was aimed at everyone still in it — if I can do it, so can you.
