Six months. That is how long the internship ran. Ninety engineering graduates from tier-1.5 colleges accepted on-campus placements with a promised Rs 35 LPA pre-placement offer hanging at the finish line. Their managers told them, repeatedly, not to worry. "You will 100% get the PPO." Feedback was consistently positive. The graduates, in turn, were removed from the regular campus placement process — because they already had a job lined up, or so everyone believed.\n\nTwo days before the programme ended, every single intern received the same email. All ninety of them. Not one PPO was granted. The company's explanation: it had shifted investments toward artificial intelligence and was no longer hiring SDE-1s. One graduate, posting on Reddit as u/NightFury_GT, described being left with nothing but a backup offer from Accenture at Rs 6.5 LPA — a figure lower than the intern stipend they had been receiving. Reddit commenters called it what it was: a scam. "They knew giving this offer would make interns work extra hard to land the PPO." The company was never named.
