# He Stopped the Interview Mid-Role-Play and Withdrew the Application Himself.

**[TRUE STORY]** — by Candidate · via r/interviews

He already had an offer — low pay, thirty hours dressed up as full-time — and was still applying. The assistant manager job at a yoga studio listed a salary that matched his expectations and described the work as primarily operations, with some sales. He had done both; he wanted out of sales.

The regional manager messaged him a long list of questions through the job board, then agreed to a phone interview. He had to follow up three times to get it. He was convinced she had forgotten his application.

On the call she explained the role was heavily sales after all: multiple sales every shift, no commission, and firing staff who missed their targets. Retention, she admitted, was a struggle. He pointed out that the listing had said operations; she told him sales was a big part of operations in this role.

Then came the sales role-play, with an objection-heavy prospect and no information about the services. Partway through, he stopped the interview. He told her the structure was exploitative of entry-level staff at a health and wellness business, withdrew his application, thanked her, and hung up.
