# Ghosted by Her Own Company — Then the Slack Announcement

**[TRUE STORY]** — by Candidate · via r/recruitinghell

She applied for an internal position and went through multiple interviews, including one with an executive vice-president. She was told she would hear back by the end of the following week.

She heard nothing. She followed up with the hiring manager, who said they were “working out some logistics” and that she would hear back from them “either way.”

She waited almost two more weeks and followed up again. No response. She was, as she put it, being ghosted by her own company.

Then she found out: they had hired someone else, because the new hire was announced in a company-wide Slack message.

She did not mind losing the role — someone else might simply be a better fit. What stung was that she already worked there, had sat the interviews, and had been specifically promised an answer either way. She asked how hard it is to send a rejection email before announcing the new hire to the entire company. She had already let HR know how she felt about it.
