# Four Rounds in a Day, Then One More at Eight

The day started with four interview rounds, back to back. Then, around eight in the evening, the recruiter came back with one more — that night — and a warning: another candidate might take the position. He did the round.

A VP interview followed. After it, he was told an offer would come within a week, and that he could begin preparing his resignation.

The offer did not come. When he followed up, he was told the position was on hold. The next day, he was told his profile was closed.

What he was left with, he wrote, was relief — that he had not gone ahead and quit the job he already had.
