# Bracken & Dunmore — Talent Partner (Candidate Success Fee: One Month of Salary)

**[SATIRE]** — by The Satire Desk · inspired by a viral “first month’s salary for a job lead” post

BRACKEN & DUNMORE — TALENT PARTNER
Your search. Your fee. Our alignment.

THE ROLE
You will work with a dedicated partner on a search that is exclusively yours. The search is yours because you are paying for it. This is what alignment means. We will explain it again later, in the invoice.

THE FEE
Our service is a candidate success fee: one month of your first month's salary, payable on acceptance. We hear the objection. We find it moving. Consider what you are buying — a role, a title, a future — and then consider what one month is, against a lifetime of earning. That is not a cost. That is a rounding decision.

THE RETAINER
A modest retainer secures your place in the search. Candidates who decline the retainer are still considered, at a lower priority, which is to say they are not considered but are told they are. The retainer is non-refundable. So, we find, is most hope.

THE ALIGNMENT
Because you pay on success, our incentives are perfectly aligned with yours. We succeed when you succeed. We also succeed when a client pays us a placement fee, which is a separate alignment that we do not raise unless asked, and that we raise cheerfully when asked.

THE GUARANTEE
If you do not receive an offer, you receive a credit toward your next search. The credit is equal to the retainer. It may be applied to a future search, subject to a future retainer. Candidates who ask what happens if the credit outlives the search are thanked for their attention to detail and moved to the pool for a role in our billing department, which is the one department that is always hiring.

THE SMALL PRINT
The fee is payable on acceptance, which is defined as the moment you say yes, not the moment you start, not the moment you are paid, and certainly not the moment you discover what the role actually involves. The invoice is issued on the morning of acceptance. It is issued before the offer letter, because we move quickly, and because we have learned that candidates read documents in the order they arrive.

HOW TO APPLY
Send a cover letter explaining what you would pay for a job you do not yet have, and why you believe the number should be higher. The strongest applications will be invoiced first.

— Bracken & Dunmore. We move candidates forward. Constantly. Toward the door.
