# Corrections & methodology

## Our corrections policy

Accuracy is the whole product. If something on goodbye, interview. is wrong, we fix it publicly:

1. The error is corrected inline in the story.
2. The correction is dated.
3. The original error is struck through — never quietly edited.
4. The correction appears in the corrections log.

## Who can file a correction

Anyone — the storyteller, a company mentioned in a story, a reader who spotted an error.

## What happens after you file

1. A human checks your request against the original story file and any supporting material.
2. Within 7 days you get one of three outcomes, with reasons:
   - **Corrected** — the story is updated inline.
   - **Response printed** — your response is published alongside the story in full.
   - **No change** — and we tell you exactly why.

## How the Index works

The Index aggregates data from story submissions and direct index reports. A company appears once three or more independent reports exist. Numbers are medians, not averages.
